Register of Massage Therapists
As regulated health care professionals, massage therapists have graduated from a two or three year academic and professional program. Training concentrates on the areas of massage theory and clinical practice, anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, hydrotherapy, pathology and remedial exercise as related to massage therapy. Emphasis is placed on the knowledge and ability to provide care to the public in a safe, ethical and professional manner.
Massage therapists must have passed written and clinical examinations set or approved by the CMTNL and must be registered with the CMTNL in order to use the title massage therapist (MT) or variations such as registered massage therapist (RMT) or certified massage therapist (CMT), or others.
All massage therapists must abide by the Act, the Regulations and bylaws, the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
